Deb, I watched this video too. I am a Christian and the majority of churches in the PNW have the exact theme as shown in the video regarding Sunday morning church services. The music is so loud with the drums and instruments and the worship folks all act the same in church and always trying to teach songs that are all about self. The Pastors all are from the same cookie cut mold out of the seminaries. They push emotions, feelings, self help, and they seem like they are acting hip. Most of the audience are "seekers" and there is hardly any discipleship.They have these stupid coffee bars and it is all so annoying (opinion only). There is hardly any of God's word preached, taught, talked about in these churches.

I have watched the video several times and laughed quite a bit because it really hits the way things are done Sunday after Sunday in lots of churches. I agree that it makes the points that Carol mentioned, but I am with Carol… what was the original purpose of this video and how was it presented? What speaker used it originally and what were his points? Very interesting video and outstanding quality production!

I think this video is on to something…it seems that it could be used very powerfully, but depending on the goal of its message, I think it's lacking. If the goal of the message is to expose the worldliness of the "worship" music of today's Christian churches–the music's ungodly origin, its similarity to sensually-stimulated secular concerts, its power to bypass through physical emotions the Biblical mind-stimulated worship of the Holy Spirit, its departure from sound doctrine, its anti-reverent focus on the appeal to man rather than worship before the holy God, etc.–I think it is on its way to doing that. But to me, it seemed disorganized because the goal did not seem clear, and it brought up briefly various errors of this music through satyr (a powerful method) which seemed to be leading to a punch line that was either non-existent or very weak. If Whisper Productions would consider making another video similar to this, but with greater breadth and depth and a clearer punchline, I think it would be EXTREMELY powerful to send a message to the millions of Christians who have bought into this shallow, unholy kind of worship, mostly out of ignorance of never having experienced the "real deal" through the Holy Spirit. And how could they experience the depth of His presence in God-honoring music, when modern CCM is driving Him away? If one has never had a steak, maybe one wouldn't feel so deprived to have to live on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for every meal. It's a vicious cycle. This music produces Christians of shallow faith and relationship with Christ, which leads to more shallow music….or maybe it started the other way: a shallow relationship which expressed itself in shallow music which produced more shallow Christians who produced more shallow music…All I know is, God needs to wake us up.

Well, Whisper Productions was only hired to shoot and provide crew for the video. So we can't really take credit for the message the video portrays. We can only take credit for the production quality, they way it looks and sounds. We shot on the RED and provided a crew of 4 guys to DP, Grip, Gaff, and record Audio.

The concept was written by North Point Media for their Drive conference. It's a conference of church leaders and the video was intended to make them think about getting caught up into just making sunday happen. So it's goal was to make church leaders re-evaluate their motives in everything they do. Are they really following God or they just making Sunday happen?

we used to work at a church like this. the people are "processed" according to the sr. pastor. he thinks its good for them. we thought it was mindless. when i first saw the video, i thought this would be good for pastors and church leaders to see, and now, because joshm explained how it was made i see that it was intended for them. it looks like just the right message to send the the leadership of many churches. now i am interested in this "drive" conf that he mentioned.

I think some here missed the point that when a church tries something different to reach different people, they become as programmed as the churches they left.
I watched this and smiled as I saw all the elementsof my local Sunday service, they just forgot the coffee bar!

Are we doing ministry or entertainment? Both the script and the production of the video do an excellent job of bringing that point across in a tongue-in-cheek and somewhat hard hitting way. Sometimes we need to see ourselves in a mirror to see the dirt on our face. Sometimes we need to hear our motives expressed in words to see them — almost to the point of reductio ad absurdum. Excellent production!

NorthPoint had a purpose in making this video. To take it out of context is to miss the point. We can take this video, like many elements of a worship service created to honor God, and turn it into evidence for our own position or argument with other brothers and sisters in Christ. It does nothing other than divide the church. Another video could be made displaying a 50 or 200 member choir, a pastor in a 3 piece suit banging on a pulpit or speaking sweetly and be just as empty and devoid of the divine work of the Holy Spirit as any contemporary church. The point is the work of Christ through His word and the power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church, not the format or pattern a church uses to minister. The question is always what do we value most, substance or symbolism?
